Terms
Last updated: 2026-10-30
These terms cover the Hello Pantry Telegram bot (@hello_pantry_bot),
its Mini App at https://hello-pantry-tg.gpm.name, the web app and the Android app. Using any of them means accepting them.
What Hello Pantry is
A bot that keeps track of what is in your fridge, freezer and cupboards and warns you before it expires. It is a record of what you tell it. Expiry dates, and the estimated expiry of frozen food, are estimates and reminders, not food-safety advice: whether something is safe to eat is your judgement, not the bot’s, and a product that is not on the list can still be off.
What it costs
The bot is free to use within the limits listed on the home page. Pro removes those limits, adds sharing, and can be paid two ways: in Telegram Stars, either 150 Stars a month or 1500 Stars for twelve months, or, in the Google Play build of the Android app, with a Google Play subscription (see below). Pro is tied to your account, so what you buy one way is Pro everywhere you sign in: in the bot, the Mini App, the web app and the app.
The monthly plan is a subscription: it renews itself until you cancel it, and cancelling is done in Telegram’s settings rather than here. The yearly plan is not a subscription and does not renew: it is one payment for twelve months, after which the account goes back to the free plan on its own. Buying a year while a month is still running adds the twelve months on top of what is left rather than replacing it.
Stars are Telegram’s, not mine: they are bought from Telegram and the charge is Telegram’s. Pro purchases are recorded in apps-management under the Telegram payment identifier. Refunds are possible while Telegram allows them for a given payment; ask at apps@gpm.name.
Cancelling stops the renewal. Pro runs until the date it was paid up to.
Pro on Google Play. In the Google Play build of the Android app, Pro is a Google Play subscription, monthly or yearly, bought in the app, with a free trial. The price, the length of the trial and the renewal terms are shown in the app before you confirm. It renews itself until you cancel it. The payment is Google’s: Google charges you, and Google’s terms apply to the purchase. Hello Pantry stores the purchase token Google gives the app, which is checked with Google through apps-management, and the state and dates of the subscription, as described in the privacy policy.
To cancel, open Google Play > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions, choose Hello Pantry and cancel. Deleting your data or your account does not cancel it. Cancelling stops the renewal and Pro runs until the date it was paid up to; cancelling during the free trial means you are not charged. Refunds for a Google Play purchase follow Google’s rules and are decided and paid by Google; I cannot refund a Google Play charge myself, and when Google refunds or revokes a purchase, Pro ends accordingly. If Google reports a payment problem, Pro may be suspended until it is fixed. A build of the app without Google Play services does not sell Pro.
No warranty
The bot is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It is run on one server by one person; it can be down, and a message can be lost.
Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Pro includes an export of your data.
Your data is yours
You keep everything you write down. It is not sold, not shared and not used to train anything. The exceptions are what you choose to give the shared catalog, what you send to Open Food Facts if you tick it, and what an AI assistant you connect reads, which goes to the company that runs it. For the catalog: the name, brand, size, category and package photo of a barcoded product, which whoever scans the same code sees. By sharing them you let Hello Pantry show them to other people, correct them, hide them and remove them; if you delete your data, they stay in the catalog with nothing that links them to you. A new product you send to Open Food Facts, or to one of its sister projects (Open Beauty Facts, Open Pet Food Facts, Open Products Facts), is published there, under their licences, and cannot be taken back once sent. What is stored and what is not is in the privacy policy.
Homes and sharing
The free plan has one home. With Pro you can have as many as you like. Inviting people into a home is part of Pro; being invited into somebody else’s home is not.
If you invite people to a home, you are the one who decides who they are. Owners can invite and remove members and delete the home for everybody, and a home always keeps at least one owner. Do not invite anybody who has not asked to be there.
A home or a wardrobe that an owner deletes disappears for every member. It is kept for 30 days, during which an owner can restore it; after that it is deleted for good, with its products, pictures and history. Restoring one counts against the free limit like creating one.
AI assistants
You can connect an AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to your account. Connecting is free; the assistant can use a home’s contents only while that home has Pro. Once you allow it, it acts as you, with your role in each of your homes: what it adds, changes or removes is done in your name, other members see it as yours, and you answer for it as if you had done it yourself. Assistants make mistakes: check what they did.
The assistant is a service of the company that runs it, under its own terms, and not part of Hello Pantry: I do not control what it does with what it reads, nor whether it understands what you ask. A connection ends after one year, or earlier if you disconnect it in Settings → Connected apps. An assistant’s requests are limited per account, and the same rules of use below apply to it.
Acceptable use
Do not use the bot to break the law, and do not try to reach data that is not yours or to knock the service over. Automated use that degrades it for other people is not allowed. Do not put into the shared catalog anything false or offensive, or a picture of anything but the package: such an entry or picture is hidden or removed, and whoever keeps adding them can be stopped from sharing. What you send to Open Food Facts must be accurate and yours to share, because it is published there under their licences (the ODbL for the data, CC BY-SA for photos).
Photos are your responsibility. A photo you add to the shared catalog must be one you took yourself and must show only the product’s package, with no people, faces or personal details. You are responsible for every photo you upload. A photo is shown to other people after an automatic check, and one the check holds back waits for an administrator; a photo that breaks these rules is removed, and whoever uploads such photos can be stopped from sharing or blocked.
Access can be withdrawn where one of those happens. Where that leaves a paid subscription unused, the unused part is refunded.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit, or for a decision taken on the basis of what the bot showed you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited — death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, and the rights you have as a consumer.
Availability and changes
Features can change and the service can be discontinued. If it is discontinued, notice will be given in the bot and on this site with enough time to export your data, and any subscription running at that point is refunded for its unused part.
Governing law
Italian law, and the courts of Rome, Italy. If you are a consumer this does not take away the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in.
