Changelog

Every release of Hello Pantry, newest first, described by what it does rather than by what changed in the code.

2026.10.27 — October 2026

Changed

The weight of a piece is needed for food only. Sharing a product counted in pieces under “Other”, like toilet paper or a detergent, with the catalog no longer asks what one piece weighs: the package is just its count, 6 rolls for example. Food in pieces still needs it, as it is what lets the catalog say “6 x 35 g” to whoever adds it next.

2026.10.26 — October 2026

Added

The day something came into the home. When you add something you can say it arrived today, yesterday or another day of the last year: the shopping done yesterday and put away today is yesterday’s. Expiry estimates, like “about 5 days”, and the freezing day count from that day. In the chat the bot asks “📅 Added today?” on every add; the Mini App and the web app have an “Added on” field. Got it wrong? Correct it later from the package’s card, and the expiry does not move.

An icon for products without a photo. In the Mini App and the web app a product without a photo shows a line icon of what it is, an apple, a fish, milk, instead of its initial.

2026.10.25 — October 2026

Added

Hello Pantry in Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants. You can connect Hello Pantry to an AI assistant that supports MCP connectors, by adding the address https://hello-pantry-app.gpm.name/api/mcp, and ask it in your own words what is at home, what is about to expire, what to buy, or to add, use up and move things. It acts with your role in each of your homes. Connecting is free, and a home’s contents are available while the home has Pro.

You are the one who says yes. A connection is approved on a page of the web app that shows the app, where it returns to, the homes it will reach and what it can never do, and you get a notice for every new connection. Settings → Connected apps, in the Mini App and the web app, lists every connection, and Disconnect removes one. A connection lasts one year at most.

2026.10.24 — October 2026

Added

Correct a product on Open Food Facts. When you add a product that Open Food Facts already knows and you have made its name, brand or size better, you can send your version to them too: the details you changed are marked, with a switch “Correggi anche su Open Food Facts” and a tick for each one to send. The same is on the product’s page, in the Mini App and in the next version of the Android app. Name, brand and size start ticked; the category is offered only when Open Food Facts has none; the photo is off until you tick it, next to the notice that it is published under CC BY-SA.

You can still change your mind. A correction goes out after about an hour, as a new product does, and the product’s page shows it waiting, with Change and Cancel. After it has gone, the page tells you what came of it, detail by detail: sent, already there, changed by someone else meanwhile (it is then left alone) or not sent. Corrections are limited to 10 a day; one more waits for the next day, and the page says when.

Your corrections. “Your contributions” has a new list, “Corrections”, with the latest ones and a link to the product on Open Food Facts.

2026.10.23 — October 2026

Changed

The weight of one piece. When you add a new product counted in pieces, in the chat or in the Mini App, you are asked how much one piece weighs, with a button to use the weight when it is already known. For your own products you can leave it out. To share a product in pieces with the catalog the weight is needed: if you do not know it, “Do not share” goes on without sharing. Editing a catalog entry in pieces needs it too.

Your home remembers how you add things. Each add is remembered, also after the package is used up, so that the Android app can propose the place, the number of packages and the expiry of the last time. Undoing an add forgets it, and the export of a home lists them.

2026.10.22 — October 2026

Fixed

Photos reach Open Food Facts. The package photo of a product you send to Open Food Facts now gets there, also when it was still being checked as the product left: it goes as soon as it is approved. If Open Food Facts already has a front photo of the product, yours is not sent, so nobody’s photo is replaced. Products sent earlier without their photo get it now, where Open Food Facts still has none.

2026.10.21 — October 2026

Added

Photos of packages show up right away. When you share a product’s package photo with the catalog, an automatic check on our own server looks at it first, usually within a minute or two, and then everybody sees it. The photo never leaves our server for the check. If the check is unsure, or cannot be done, an administrator looks at the photo instead, and you do not have to do anything.

The photo rules. The first time you share a photo, in the chat or in the Mini App, you are asked to agree to the rules once: the photo must be yours and show only the package, with no people, faces or personal details, and you answer for it. After that, a short reminder sits next to the photo button.

Delete your account. In the settings of the Mini App and the web app, under “Delete all data”, there is now “Delete account…”. It explains what goes and what stays, and asks you to type DELETE. Your profile and your data are deleted; the records of a payment are kept, as the law requires. If you open the bot again afterwards, you start from scratch.

The updates channel in the settings. Settings, “About” in the Mini App now links to the @hello_pantry_updates channel, where each release is announced.

2026.10.20 — October 2026

Added

Find what you have at home by its barcode. In the Mini App, the icon at the top of the list is now “Find at home”: scan a barcode, type the digits or photograph it, and it tells you whether you already have the product, how much and where, and when it expires, with “Consume” and “Add another”. If you do not have it, it says so and offers to add it. You can also type the digits in the search bar. In the chat, send the digits of a barcode from the main menu and the bot answers the same way, with buttons. It only looks in your own home: nothing is sent to Open Food Facts.

Take a photo, or pick one. Wherever you attach a picture (a new product, a product’s page, a piece in a wardrobe), there are now two buttons: “Take a photo”, which opens the camera, and “From the gallery”.

Your contributions to Open Food Facts. If you send new products to Open Food Facts, you can now see how they are doing: Settings, “Your contributions to Open Food Facts” in the Mini App, or “Your contributions” in the bot’s Settings. It shows how many are waiting, online, improved by others or removed, and your latest ones, with a link to the product page. After a product is sent, Hello Pantry looks at its public page again after a day, a week and a month to see what became of it.

Changed

Small wording fixes. Leaving a wardrobe, the Pro messages and the question before deleting a home read correctly for homes and wardrobes, and say “1 member” or “N members”.

Privacy. It says that the follow-up only reads the public page of the product on Open Food Facts and sends nothing about you, and that you can see your own contributions.

2026.10.19 — October 2026

Added

Make a home from the bot. With Pro you can have more than one home, and now you can make one without leaving the chat: “➕ New home”. The free plan has one home. Inviting people into a home is still part of Pro.

Delete a home, and bring it back. An owner can delete a home or a wardrobe. It disappears for every member, and they are told. For 30 days an owner can restore it, from “♻️ Recently deleted”. After that it is deleted for good, with its products, pictures and history.

Changed

Homes, and places. The shared space you keep food in, which was called a pantry, is now a home, and each home has several places: the fridge, the freezer, the cupboards. In Italian it is “casa” for the home and “dispensa” for each place. The first home of a new account is called “My home”. Existing homes keep their names. The places of a wardrobe are called spaces.

Privacy and terms. They use the new names, and say what happens to a deleted home: kept for 30 days, then deleted with everything in it.

2026.10.18 — October 2026

Added

Detergents, toiletries and pet food are found too. When Open Food Facts does not have a barcode, Hello Pantry now looks in its sister databases: Open Products Facts (detergents and household goods), Open Beauty Facts (toiletries and cosmetics) and Open Pet Food Facts (pet food). The name, brand and photo come up as they do for food, and the link and the credit name the right project. Searching by name still looks only at food.

Say what a new product is. When you send a new product to the free databases, you choose what it is (food or drink, toiletries and cosmetics, pet food, household and other) and it goes to the project for that type. In the Mini App the switch now reads “Invia anche alle banche dati di Open Food Facts” and asks you to pick the type before it saves.

Fixed

The Mini App switch for sending to Open Food Facts. In a real browser it did not pass your choice on, so a product ticked there was not sent. It does now.

Changed

Privacy and terms. They name the sister projects, which share the same licence, and say that what you send goes to the one for its type.

2026.10.17 — October 2026

Added

Send a new product to Open Food Facts too. When you add a product with a barcode that Open Food Facts does not know and share it in the Hello Pantry catalog, you can also send it to Open Food Facts. You are asked every time, and nothing goes unless you say yes. The name, the brand, the size and, once it has been checked, the photo of the package become public there under the Open Database Licence (photos under CC BY-SA), credited to the Hello Pantry account; they leave about an hour later, so a mistake can still be fixed, and cannot be taken back once sent. The question appears over the next few days, as it is switched on.

Changed

Privacy and terms. They say what is sent to Open Food Facts when you choose to, under which licence, and that Delete all data cancels whatever has not left yet.

2026.10.16 — October 2026

Added

A wardrobe, for your clothes. A new kind of pantry, made from the settings: add a piece by sending its photo or typing its name, then pick its category and place. The categories are ready in your language and you can change them; each piece can have a brand, a size, a colour and notes. In the Mini App and the web app the wardrobe is a grid of photos with filters and a search. Free: one wardrobe with 3 places, 40 pieces and one photo each; Pro: more wardrobes, unlimited places, 1000 pieces, 4 photos each, and sharing.

Changed

Privacy. It says what a wardrobe keeps, and that its photos are seen only by its members.

2026.10.15 — October 2026

Added

A shared catalog. When you add a product whose barcode Open Food Facts does not know, what you write about it is kept for whoever scans the same code next: they find it filled in, and can confirm it or report it, and whoever added it can correct it. It is shared unless you tap “Do not share”, and nobody sees who added it.

Photos of the package. You can add one when you add a product; other people see it only after it has been checked. In the Mini App and the web app a product without a barcode can have a photo of its own, seen only in your pantry.

Changed

Privacy and terms. They say what the shared catalog keeps and shows, and that a picture is kept only when you attach one yourself.

2026.10.14 — October 2026

Added

Search by name. When you add something, type its name: Hello Pantry looks in your pantry, in a list of everyday products, and, with one tap, on Open Food Facts.

Everyday food without a brand. About 200 products such as courgettes, apples, bread, eggs and chicken fill in their category and propose how long they keep where you put them, for example about 5 days for courgettes in the fridge. “3 zucchine” is 3 pieces, and their weight counts in the statistics.

Packages of several pieces. A pack of 6 plum cakes is one package of 6, used one piece at a time; the weight of a piece is optional. A product read as “6 x 35 g” suggests its pieces by itself.

Changed

A shop’s scale label is the shop’s own code. It is not looked up anywhere, and you are asked for the name. The shopping list shows whole packages (“6 pz (1 package)”), and the export carries the weight of a piece and of what was used.

2026.10.13 — October 2026

Fixed

Adding, pictures and the camera. Adding while you look at a place puts the product in that place. A product added from the Mini App or the web app keeps its picture everywhere, not only while it is being added. The scanner keeps the camera for a minute between scans, so it asks for permission less often.

2026.10.12 — October 2026

Changed

Filters and the back button. With a search typed, the place filters count only what it finds, and the category filter stays in view at the end of the row however many places there are. In Telegram the back button closes the window that is open first, then the settings page. On a computer the monthly chart shows eaten and thrown on the same scale, each with its amount.

2026.10.11 — October 2026

Fixed

The new look, corrected. A product with no package size no longer reads “null g”, the category filter opens on a tap on phones, and an amount larger than what is left is refused instead of using up the whole lot. Low-stock items on the shopping list say how much is missing again, the monthly chart no longer marks last month as this one, and percentages agree everywhere. Settings show a newly linked email at once and keep their titles in the chosen language. On a computer, switching pantry closes the product open beside the table, and the figures at the top count the whole pantry even with a category chosen.

2026.10.10 — October 2026

Changed

A new look for the Mini App and the web app. The pantry groups what to use first, this week and later, with a summary of what has expired or is about to at the top, a search, and the place and category filters in one row. Expiry dates read as a timeline, the shopping list checks off from the left, statistics lead with how much ends up thrown away and show the months as a chart, and settings are a short list of parts that each open their own page. In a browser on a computer the web app has a sidebar, the pantry is a table and a product opens beside it.

2026.10.9 — October 2026

Added

Pro is on sale, paid in Telegram Stars: 150 Stars a month, which renews and is cancelled from Telegram’s own settings, or 1500 Stars for twelve months, paid once. Buy it from the bot or from the Mini App’s settings.

Report a problem or suggest an idea by writing it in the chat, or from the Mini App’s settings. With an email linked to your account you can also vote on the ideas, follow what became of your reports, and read the replies in the chat.
